Panteón Tulum
Artist: Javiera Da Fonseca · Matías Santa María · Jacinta Kaiser · Micheal Yaikel · Zanez
Area: Panteón Municipal de Tulum
Year: 2019
In 2019, Javiera Da Fonseca, Matías Santa María, Jacinta Kaiser and Micheal Yaikel arrived from Chile and stayed with Tulum Art Club. Together with Mexican artist Zanez, they spent several weeks developing a collective intervention for the walls of the Panteón Municipal de Tulum as part of Art With Me 2019.\n\nThe long composition was built by many hands. Across the wall, a night landscape unfolds through bare white branches, blue birds, broad fields of cloud, a striped serpent, plants, vessels and abstract forms. Each section carries a distinct visual language, but the shared palette and continuous horizon bring the different voices into one work.\n\nThe surviving process photographs preserve the mural as it was being made: artists working directly along the roadside wall, moving between sketches, broad fields of color and fine painted details. They document both the finished imagery and the temporary community formed around its creation.
